A free Pass into Heaven

This is one of the saddest situations I know for any dog.  To be tied up, or chained, outside, all year round.  Not just freezing Winters but baking Summers also.

I live the pain of animals.  But particularly dogs.  Why?  Because they are the embodiment of love.  They bring it to us humans, unconditionally and with joy, often, no matter how we treat them.  And despite their simple existence and unwavering loyalty, human owners still fail to learn.  Perhaps they should be chained to a stake mid-Winter, I doubt they would last a single day, and yet, some of these poor creatures endure years and years of this neglect and abuse.

I have seen this most prevalent in America.  Whole neighbourhoods with chained dogs.  Often these properties are low rent and their occupants oblivious to the misery that their canine protector experiences every day, deprived of reciprocated love, companionship, play and outings.  It makes me so damned angry.

It is our persistent failure to learn that love, compassion and empathy are not weakness.   And it is the human condition of entitled superiority that will ultimately turn around and bite us on the arse or worse, be our downfall as a species that only takes and uses, rather than gives and leaves.

My heart is with all these beautiful four-legged furry souls, whose free pass into the warm glow of heavens green pastures is waiting for them, as I will be with open arms.
