A Friend By My Side
I never had much training and came to horses late in my life. I’m not much of a leader, I love my horses, perhaps a little too much, because I cave to their desires more than I should, But I have fun, and I’m pretty certain they love me too – lots! When I play the “stick-to-me” game I let my horse choose where exactly he or she will stick and usually it’s at my side. This suits me because I’ve had my big boy follow me in the past and I don’t like having to have eyes in the back of my head, and I would need them with him because if he comes too close he can tread on my heals. And that hurts! My fault, my bubble! I hear you all cry! Maybe so. But why take the risk when we can be real buddies side by side. Perhaps I’m lucky, my big boy spooks away from me, so far, every time. A ton of horse. I think my love and affection means everything to him, and not losing sight of me in moments of panic is his way of loving me back.
